mp3ql Manual » Windows

Introduction

This window is the most convenient way to browse your hard drive from within mp3ql. It can be used very effectively in conjunction with the Shelf or on its own to organise folders and perform many basic file management tasks. The context menu also allows you to perform many of the advanced mp3ql actions, please refer to the topic list for more information.

Expand

The Expand function is available from the context menu. It provides you with a way to display all child directories of a folder - to display any files that are within a directory please refer to the Detail View page. There are two methods to do this:

  • Expand Children
  • Expand Recursive

Expand Children - This option will expand ONLY the child directories of the currently selected parent directory. By child this means the immediate directory below the current (parent) one.

Expand Recursive - This option will expand ALL directories below the currently selected parent directory. By recursive this means not only the immediate directories but also the directories within the immediate directories, and so on.

Displaying Album Covers from within the Tree View

This is one of the pinnacle features of mp3ql. It enables you to browse your music collection with each album folder displaying the album cover (or any other image you may require) from within the directory tree.

Directions: To enable this feature please refer to the Preferences » Directories » Album Directories help page. Once you have specified your chosen directory(ies) this feature will instantly be activated.

Notes

Currently only files with the extension .png will work, to convert an image file into this format please use the Image Tools.
